Subcultures
Subcultures are often defined as subgroups of a wider culture.

Power
Each youth subculture seeks to mark itself off from the dominant culture while
simultaneously also accommodating to certain aspects of it.

Divisions
Subculture divides wider forms of culture into smaller unites, which may exist in
relationships of opposition to wider cultures, the concept potentially allows consideration
of the division of culture.

Interpretation
Different interpretations can be offered of the meaning of any subculture. However, those
interpretations tend to neglect the meaning of the subculture for its participants. The
problem lies in the stereotypical views held by the media.
