Dear Parents, Guardians and Students:
Welcome to the Excel Beyond the Bell (EBB) program! Montgomery County Recreation, the
Montgomery County Collaboration Council for Children, Youth and Families, and the Montgomery County Public Schools are partnering to offer this exciting after school initiative.
Excel Beyond the Bell provides an inquiring atmosphere where middle school students can
explore new interests, and experience an array of cultural and educational activities while
fostering a sense of community and belonging. These experiences are designed to support
and enhance their learning at school, while providing an engaging atmosphere for their
development. We hope you enjoy the variety of enriching experiences that supports positive
youth development for all participants.
We have an EBB Parent and Student Handbook which includes important details regarding
the program’s operation to ensure the safety of our students. Parent handbooks can be
picked up in the main office or from the program coordinator. Please take a moment to
review the handbook with your middle-schooler. We encourage you to keep it in a safe
place for easy reference throughout the school year.
Our staff welcomes suggestions and ideas that will help us to make your son or daughter’s
experience with EBB beneficial and rewarding. We encourage you to share your thoughts
and ideas with us at any time. If you have any questions, please contact us at

COURSE DESCRIPTIONS
Rober to Clemente Middle Sc hool
Musical Theater Workshop: Sing, Dance, Act
Create a play, choreograph, and sing Broadway songs from professional teaching artists! Learn the techniques of theater, singing,
stage movement, and improvisation! An informal presentation for
family and friends at the end.
Desarrolla una obra, haz la coreografía, y canta canciones de Broadway aprendiendo de artistas profesionales! Aprende las técnicas de

Cooking
Students will learn a variety of cooking techniques like steaming,
sautéing, chopping, and rolling they prepare sample dishes.

Hoop Ed: Team Sports
Rotate through a different sport where coaches incorporate all kids,

Do you need SSL hours? Do you like serving your community? If so,
then join the EBB YAC where we plan community service projects,
and talk about issues affecting young people.

Class Act Arts: West African Drumming
