CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS!
Submit a 5-7 minute speech or dramatic performance that recognizes Dr. King's powerful oratorical
style and spirit. The annual event takes place during MLK week and gives you an opportunity to
demonstrate your relationship with the work of Dr. King and others in the civil rights movement.
Submissions can be made at http://steinhardt.nyu.edu/gso/events by the December 31, 2011 deadline. Finalists will be selected in January and will compete for a Kindles, gift cards, and more! ALL

community! I recently
moved to New York
from San Diego to begin
a program in Education
Leadership, Politics, &
Advocacy and am thoroughly enjoying my
transition thus far.
Aside from planning to enroll in some captivating
courses here over the next couple of years, I’m also eager to get connected to several communities throughout NYU and beyond! It’s also my goal to try as many
vegetarian options around New York while I’m here. I
hope to see you at some of our events this year!

ENGAGE 2012
Engage2012 is a national summit that strives to build a progressive, unified agenda for change leading up to the 2012 election cycle. Discussions
will include what's at stake for women, racial and ethnic minorities, the
LGBTQ community, and low- and middle-income families in 2012.
The event is hosted by the Women of Color Policy Network and will take

diversity at NYU through 3 minute videos. Join us for the premier of the
winning student videos from the “I Am Diversity @NYU” video contest,
and learn about how you can participate in upcoming programs and events
that explore the complex intersections of race, gender, religion, socioeconomic class, ethnicity, sexual orientation and national origin at NYU”.
