Welcome back to school! Reminder we have our field trip on April
20th. We will be leaving Wayside at 9:30 am for the Air and Space
Museum in Dulles Virginia, please do not be late to school on this day.
All students must bring a packed lunch in a completely disposable lunch
bag.
Reading/ Writing: In reading and writing this month we are studying
poetry! We will be exploring many different types of poems then
creating our own poetry books! At the end of this unit we will share our
books with the first graders. We will also be practicing answering and
asking higher level thinking questions related to our reading group
books.
Math: We will be learning arrays in math this month. We will be
studying arrays as introduction to the concepts behind multiplication.
We will also be focusing on three digit addition and subtraction
practicing our different math strategies.
Science/ Social Studies: We will be studying the characteristics of
leaders and important leaders that have shaped our nation. We will be
focusing on what makes a leader and how we can become leaders
ourselves. In science we will be creating a brine shrimp habitat and
study how they grow. This will be an introduction to minute objects as
well as a unit on change over time.
