Compatibility View Mode Procedure
MIIC User Guidance
If you are experiencing trouble with the MIIC website and it does not look like you expect it to, your
browser may not be compatible with the MIIC website. MIIC is most compatible with Internet Explorer
versions 9 or earlier. MIIC is not as compatible with Google Chrome
and Internet Explorer
, Mozilla Firefox
, Safari

versions 10 or greater.
This document will provide information on:
- How to check the version of Internet Explorer being used
- How to turn on Compatibility View if using Internet Explorer version 10 or greater
How to check Internet Explorer version
There are two ways to check which version of Internet Explorer is installed on your computer:
1. Using the Help button
• Click on the Help button. Depending on your version
of Internet Explorer this may appear as a Help button,

button, or a
button.
Click on About Internet Explorer.

A window will appear that displays which version of
Internet Explorer you are using.
Note: In this example, Internet Explorer 8 is the
version, so there is no need to set the browser in
Compatibility View Mode
2. Using Help in the Menu Bar
• Go to the Help menu and select About Internet
Explorer.

How to turn on Compatibility View if using Internet Explorer version 10 or newer
If you are using Internet Explorer 10 or newer, you will need to turn on Compatibility View. Depending on
which version of Internet Explorer you are using, the process may be different. You will see a Tools menu
or an icon that looks like this:

2. Select Compatibility View Settings.
3. A window will appear as displayed to the right.
‘state.mn.us’ should be automatically filled under
Add this website. If not, enter ‘state.mn.us’
manually. Select Add.

Your browser should now be compatible
with MIIC.
Note: You will most likely need to log out and then
back in to MIIC again if the above steps were completed while logged in to MIIC.
