IV. Curriculum Reviews
EPC reviewed and approved approximately 225 proposals during the academic year
including new programs, program modifications, experimental courses, new courses and
course modifications.
EPC approved 2 new academic programs during the academic year:
Fall 2008
Undergraduate Minor in Engineering Management
Spring 2009
B.S. in Computer Information Technology
EPC approved 47 program modifications proposals during the academic year.
EPC approved 7 new experimental courses during the academic year.
EPC approved 57 new courses during the academic year.
EPC approved 116 course modifications during the academic year.

V. General Education Curriculum Decisions
1. EPC discussed the formation of a GE Ad Hoc committee: The Academic Senate
appointed a GE Ad Hoc committee, in response to the need to implement EO 1033, that
will study the relationship between GE Curriculum adoptions, recertification and
program assessment. The Ad Hoc committee will make recommendations in Fall 2009
concerning GE curriculum.
2. EPC reviewed and recertified courses in the Arts and Humanities section of General
Education. The list course recertified, decertified and not reviewed can be found as an
attachment to the April 22, 2009 minutes.

VI. Policy Recommendations
1. Minors on Diplomas: EPC approved a policy which states that students who wish to
have minors printed on diplomas may do so [Spring 09].
2. Repeating Courses: EPC approved a policy that aligns CSUN policy on repeating
courses with EO 1037. Undergraduate students will be allowed 16 units of grade
forgiveness, followed by 12 units of grade averaging beginning August 1, 2009. This
policy was approved by the Academic Senate [Spring 09].
3. Withdrawals from Courses: EPC approved a policy that aligns CSUN policy on
withdrawals with EO 1037. Undergraduate students may withdraw from no more than 18
units, not including medical withdrawals beginning August 1, 2009. This policy was
approved by the Academic Senate [Spring 09].
VII. Other Recommendations / Reviews
1. EPC approved a motion in support of the new International Engineering Program and
Art Program with Shanghai University.
VIII. Chair: Elizabeth Adams served as Chair during Fall 2009 before accepted the
position as the Associate Dean of the College of Humanities. Hillary Hertzog was elected
to serve as Chair during EPC for 2009-2010.
