February 2014
Ms. Colleen & Ms. Stephanie’s
Monthly Newsletter
What’s happening in the
classrooms?
We’re Going on a Bear Hunt! Have you heard this
phrase at home? Last month, our students enjoyed this story by acting it out and retelling.
This month we will be focusing on construction
and The Three Little Pigs. We will be working on
reading comprehension, acting out, and retelling
familiar stories. In the our four year old classes,
we will work on the concepts of more and less and
making groups. With our three year old classes,
we continue to work on making number groups,
counting, and sorting. We continue to work on prewriting skills (i.e. letters, circle, and square). We
continue to work on waiting our turn to respond
during small/large group instruction. Please see
the box below for the home-school connection activities.
What can I do at home?
Math– To work on more/less, for example, give your
child 2 cookies and their sibling 3 cookies and ask them
these questions Who has more? Who has less?
Reading– Look out for our Goldilocks and The Three
Bears activity. While reading this story, talk about
where you would start reading on a page, which direction you would read, where the pictures are, and turning one page at a time.
