What’s happening in the
classrooms?
We hope everyone had a great summer and
first weeks of school. We are working on
matching/sorting shapes and colors. We are
working on pre-writing skills (i.e. vertical and
horizontal lines), writing skills (letters F and
E) ,and phonemic awareness (letter sounds).
The children are working on identifying their
names around the classroom. We are also
working attending skills and social skills (i.e.
sharing toys & feelings). We are promoting
language by having the students make request
and use manners (i.e. picture symbols, verbal,
sign language, and voice output device. Please
see the box below for the home-school
connection activities.
What can I do at home?
Math– Go for a shape hunt and find objects in your
environment. Parents give your child a color and have
him/her match the color at home. Have your child help
you with household chores by sorting utensils and
clothes.
Reading– Read a story to your child. Have your child
identify the title, front, and back of the book. Help
your child find his/her name from a group of four
names. We are working on identifying the letters of
our names.
