Reading plays, and discussing
character actions and resulting
events, and themes.
Asking and answering questions
by explicitly referring to a text.
Representing multiplication
situations in the 9’s, 6’s, and 3’s
tables using pictures,
multiplication tables, arrays,
and equations.
Using models, pictures, and
arrays to show situations where
we might need to divide a
group into equal parts and
representing it as an equation
(3’s, 6’s, and 9’s tables).
Noticing how the meanings of
word parts change when a
prefix or suffix is added to a
root word.
Interviewing adults (primary
sources) to learn how
technology has changed over
time.
Comparing experiences of
students now to those students
in the 1950’s, 60’s, and 70’s.
Observing and describing how
physical characteristics of items
can be changed.
Classifying goods and services,
and explaining our decision.
Noticing how the physical
characteristics of the Damascus
area have changed over time,
and discuss the reasons for the
change.
We hope you have a wonderful holiday break with your children.
It is very hard to believe that we are starting December in Grade 3
next week. Time is REALLY flying by!
We are looking forward to seeing the grandparent visitors who
are able to join us on Wednesday, November 25th. Our many visitors
will provide a critical service in answering questions about what life
was like when they were children. We are hoping they will answer
questions about experiences, technology, and how things have
changed. The information they provide is one of the first steps in our
Marking Period 2 research project on how technology has evolved
over time to meet the wants and needs of individuals. It is
particularly helpful to the students because interviewing a primary
source personalizes the information. Many thanks in advance to our
visitors. We ask that students continue to interview family members
and discuss how things were vs. how they are now over the holiday.
Please share your experiences! 
If you are looking for other practice opportunities for your child in
Reading or Math, don’t forget that our students have access to your
child’s Google Drive and Apps from any computer (at home, the
library, or anywhere you have access to the internet). Simply visit
www.google.com and have your child enter his/her email address
and password. Many students already know these, but if you need a
copy, just send in a note and we’ll have your child write it in his/her
planner.  A few parents have mentioned having a little difficulty,
particularly from Apple products. We are told that this can be solved
by downloading the Google Drive app.
Please check out the parent resource provided on the back of this
newsletter. This is one of the resources requested from parents
during the Parent Conferences.
We wish you a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving!
