Introduction
Installers use the Cisco Platform Configuration disc to install Windows Server 2003 and other software
on a Cisco Unity Connection server purchased from Cisco. The Cisco Platform Configuration disc
installs only the required software and components, and the service packs and security updates that were
recommended at the time the disc was released.
Refer to the “Recommended Service Packs—Cisco Unity Connection” section of Cisco Unity
Connection System Requirements, and Supported Hardware and Software to determine whether any later
service packs have been recommended. The document is available at
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps6509/prod_installation_guides_list.html. In addition, we
recommend that you run the latest version of the Cisco Unity Connection Server Updates wizard to
Corporate Headquarters:
Cisco Systems, Inc., 170 West Tasman Drive, San Jose, CA 95134-1706 USA

install the latest recommended Microsoft security updates and, optionally, Cisco Security Agent for
Cisco Unity. Refer to Software Installed by the Cisco Unity Connection Server Updates Wizard at
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps6509/prod_installation_guides_list.html.
The Cisco Platform Configuration disc is updated as software requirements change. Although servers
come from more than one manufacturer, all discs of the same revision install the same Windows
Server 2003 components and other software, except hardware device drivers. The hardware device
drivers included on the Platform Configuration disc are specific to the server. Do not use the Platform
Configuration disc to install software on a server other than the server that the disc was shipped with.
After the Platform Configuration disc has installed software, a configuration process lets you set basic
configuration options, including the language of the operating system. Available languages are
English-United States, French-France, German-Germany, and Japanese-Japan.
