It’s time to order MnVFC influenza vaccine for the 2016-17 influenza season. The MnVFC program only provides
influenza vaccine for eligible children 18 years of age and younger. Influenza vaccine orders are due Jan. 29, 2016.
How to Order Influenza Vaccine
• Online: Go to the MnVFC website (www.health.state.mn.us/vfc) and click on “MnVFC Announcements.” Look for
the online link with this MnVFC Announcement posting.
• Paper: Use the attached 2016-17 MnVFC Pediatric Influenza Vaccine Order Form and return by email, fax, or mail.
• Do not do both or you may receive double the amount of vaccine you really need!
• We will let you know when you can expect to receive your influenza vaccine.
• Not ordering influenza vaccine? Submit an order form even if you’re not ordering influenza vaccine. There are two
options:
o Online: Select, “No, I do not wish to prebook MnVFC influenza vaccine for the 2016-17 season.”
o Paper: Place an X in the box next to, “No, I do not wish to prebook MnVFC influenza vaccine for the 2016-17
season.”
Vaccine Product Information
• The strains for the 2016-17 influenza vaccine are still being decided, more to come.
• Both inactivated injectable and live attenuated (LAIV) flu vaccine products are available.
• Be sure to order enough thimerosal-free influenza vaccine for children whose parents may request it.
• If you have questions about brand availability, contact us at [email protected].
• The MnVFC program will make every effort to fill your request, but we may need to make adjustments based on
product availability and we can’t guarantee that your entire order will be filled.
Still Have Influenza Vaccine from this Year (2015-16)?
• Keep vaccinating – flu season isn’t over yet!
• Try to complete two doses in infants and children who need it. You can continue to do so until the vaccine expires.
• Check LAIV vaccine expiration dates. While expiration dates for inactivated flu vaccine is June 30 of each year, LAIV
expires much sooner, depending on the lot.
• If you have expired and unused MnVFC influenza vaccine, contact the MnVFC program before returning it to the
distributor, McKesson.
If you have questions, call the MnVFC program at 651-201-5522 or 1-800-657-3970.
