We will be
compleng our plant
unit and then be
moving on to the
study of insects and
how they help in
plant development.
We will be learning
about many different
kinds of insects.
We will end the year
discussing various
ocean animals and
how they live.
Wring
We will be wring
like the author
Kevin Henkes. The
children will model
their stories aer
some of his books,
using their own
experiences. They
will begin to develop
a connecon
between reading and
wring through their
daily work. The
children will have an
opportunity to share
their books.
Reading
This month we are ge3ng to know characters by
pretending and performing our books.
Shared reading: Focusing on the character Mrs. WishyWashy during our Big Book reading.
Read a-louds: We will have discussions about characters’
adventures and experiences. These discussions will prompt
our students to compare and contrast the experiences of
new characters they meet with those of familiar ones.
Word Study: Your child will be working in a word study
group where they will use word sorts that are individualized
to their specific needs. They will partner sort, find words in
books, and play games.

Reading Workshop: Students will read about favorite
characters in small reading groups (clubs). They will add to
the character dialogue and act out the story at the end of
the week for their classmates.

teen number. Ex. One bundle of ten + 7 more = 17
Doubles: We will be using literature to discover double
number combinaons.
Strategy games: We will play a variety of strategy board
