Laurie King has been named the 2015 National Distinguished Principal for Alabama. This is a wonderful honor and we are so proud of her! She was one of three finalists from the state of Alabama and a panel of judges visited our school on Wednesday to meet with students, teachers, staff, parents, and community members. It was a wonderful day to show off our school and talk about all the great things that happen at Crestline. Please join us in celebrating Laurie’s tremendous accomplishment! The National Distinguished Principals program honors outstanding elementary and middle-level administrators who ensure that America's children acquire a sound foundation for lifelong learning and achievement. The program was established in 1984 to recognize and celebrate elementary and middle-level principals who set high standards for instruction, student achievement, character, and climate for the students, families, and staffs in their learning communities. Each year, NAESP congratulates principals from across the nation in both public and private schools and schools from the United States Departments of Defense Office of Educational Activity and the United States Department of State Office of Overseas Schools for their exemplary achievements. Mrs. King will attend an awards ceremony in Washington D.C. in October along with the state winners from the other states. Please join me in celebrating Laurie’s tremendous accomplishment! PTO OPPORTUNITIES FOR NEXT YEAR It is time once again for the PTO to start planning for next year. We are gearing up for another great year at Crestline and we need some volunteer leaders to help our PTO events run smoothly. Click here for the link which will take you to the "willingness to serve" form. Please indicate if you would be willing to chair or co-chair a committee next year. Once we get our chairs/co-chairs committed we will send out another email in April to ask for committee volunteers! Whether you serve as a "Chief" or an "Indian" we need you at Crestline! For more information on the different committees there are at Crestline click here. All this information can also be found on the Cougar PTO website under committees.
