BS

BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN
NETWORKING AND SYSTEMS
ADMINISTRATION
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
ACCREDITATION
Networking, the technology of interconnecting computing devices so
information can flow between them is the design, deployment, operation,
and maintenance of computer networks using developed components.
This includes activities as simple as topology design to those as complex as
the configuration of services and protocols to enable an entire intranet and
the support of that environment. As the number of computing devices in
the network scales up, the task becomes more difficult, involving design
trade-offs, performance considerations, and cost issues.
The Bachelor of Science in Networking and Systems Administration
degree is awarded by RIT NY which is accredited by Middle States in
the US. The program is also accredited by the UAE Ministry of
Higher Education and Scientific Research and KHDA.
Systems administration includes the design, installation, configuration,
operation, and support of computer system platforms from mobile
devices, servers, and large scale systems to the deployment of clouds and
the use of virtualization. This involves the specification and
implementation of all the hardware and software structures required to
support and deploy these environments.
This discipline is also concerned with the security and privacy of the
information that is stored on these platforms and communicated over
the networks they are attached to. In today’s information-rich
environment, computer systems exist at the heart of a network and
often work together to provide services as well as repositories for
information. In order to gain practical experience, students will design
and deploy secure systems and network solutions in support of an
organization's strategic and tactical goals.
Amina Ringim
"The Networking program is an
innovative and career-orientated
program that really complements
my skillset. RIT Dubai has been
the turning point for my life. I did
not only learn abilities that count
towards my degree but I've learnt
a lot that will count in the future. I
can honestly say I am ready to
face the world now. Thank you RIT Dubai."
POSSIBLE CAREER OPTIONS
The program is intended to prepare graduates to assume leadership
positions in for-profit and not-for-profit organizations dealing with
evolving networking solutions or to continue their education through the
pursuit of advanced degrees.

COOPERATIVE EDUCATION
Cooperative education is a full-time paid work in the student’s field of study. The Networking and Systems Administration curriculum requires the
completion of 24 weeks of co-op employment typically completed during the summer of the second and third academic years. Cooperative education
gives students the opportunity to apply in the workplace the knowledge and the skills they learn in the classroom, and bring to the classroom what they
learn in the workplace to achieve a more well-rounded education. At the workplace, students also gain valuable expertise in areas such as oral and
written communications, business ethics and etiquette, and working in a team, which will allow them to undertake various career options and help
them make long-term decisions.
