WHAT'SGOING ON IN GRADE 3?
Happy April! As we start the fourth quarter, we are excited to
share all of the wonderful things that will be happening in our
classrooms this month. In reading, we will be studying traditional
stories (specifically folktales, fables, myths and legends). Find the
MCPS content newsletter for reading by clicking here! In writing,
students will finish their historical fiction stories and begin an
inquiry project where they will research two sides to an argument
and then present their opinion to the class. Don't forget - our
spelling program will start again on Monday, April 27th!
Third grade mathematicians will be solving two-step word
problems using all operations. For more information on math this
month, click here! In social studies, students will be budgeting.
Later this month, science studies will focus on natural resources.
The monthly project for April is a Fable Book Project, due to
reading teachers on Wednesday, April 29th. Your child will be
planning and writing their very own fable! Find an electronic copy
of the assignment here.
Reminder: PARCC testing continues later this month.

ARTIST-IN-RESIDENCE PROGRAM
On April 29th and 30th, 3rd graders will have an exciting
opportunity to participate in a 2-day residency with Tim
Gregory of Nada Brahma Productions (click for link).
NBP, which Tim founded, promotes multi-cultural
awareness through cultural arts education. Tim will lead
the program titled The Kenya Project, which will immerse
students in East African life and culture through an
experiential and hands-on exploration of the region's
music and dance.
Special THANK YOU to the PTA for making this opportunity
possible!
