PRINCIPAL’S WRITING WALL – Each week, students’ work is selected by teachers as exemplary and
will be displayed in the front hall of the school. Teachers are on a rotating schedule, and not all classes are
displayed every week. We have adjusted the schedule this year to allow for many more, if not all, students’
writing to be posted during the year. I invite you to read the wall regularly to see some fabulous writing!
Congratulations to the students whose writing has been highlighted this week!

INFORMATION FROM YOUR PUPIL PERSONNEL WORKER (PPW) – Pupil Personnel Workers
(PPW) are educators who are specially trained to help meet the needs of students and their families. They
support the Montgomery County Public Schools’ system goals as advocates, liaisons, and consultants.
PPWs advocate for all students. As consultants, they assist families in accessing MCPS programs and
services as well as Montgomery County community information, services and resources. As liaisons,
PPWs help maintain a positive home-school connection. They help students and families better understand
school policies and regulations. In addition, PPWs work in the areas of crisis response, Change of School
Assignment (COSA), and with disciplinary processes. They are members of student services teams and
work closely with administrators, counselors, and special education staff. To speak with our PPW,
Brenda McKenna, you can contact the school or her directly at 301-840-3475.
ONLINE PAYMENT FOR YEARBOOK AND FIELD TRIPS – We are now able to pay for the
yearbook and field trips online with credit and debit cards. Most of our second grade parents have already
used the service to pay for their recent field trip.
In order to buy a school yearbook or pay for a field trip: Please register your student(s) by logging on
to:
http://osp.osmsinc.com/MontgomeryMD/BVModules/CategoryTemplates/Detailed%20List%20with%20Pr
operties/Category.aspx?categoryid=BY190 or by the link on the right side of the Stone Mill web home
page.
Click on the bold print for the item you want to purchase: for a field trip, click on the link with your child’s
teacher’s name and the name of the field trip; for the yearbook, click on the yearbook link for your child’s
grade. The default screen shows the price and the quantity of 1. Click “add to cart.” Click the blue,
“checkout” button. The next screen asks you to either login (you may have an account if you used this
before) or to register as a new user. Follow the instructions to register or log in. You are then asked (in the
center of the screen) to “select student profile.” If you have never registered before, you will choose the
dark, grey button at the top that says, “Add Student Profile.” You will need your child’s six-digit ID
number which is on your child’s current report card – or you can call the office for it. Then click “next.”
The next screen takes you through inputting your credit or debit card info into the system. And then you’re
done! There is a 3.75% fee for using this service, so as an example, a $10 field trip would cost an extra 37
and a half cents. If you have any trouble, please call Mrs. Wynant in the office for help.
HEARING AND VISION SCREENING – All Kindergarten and new students to MCPS will be tested for
hearing and vision. If you would NOT like your child to be screened (and he/she is in Kdg. or is new to
MCPS), please contact the office.
EMAILING ABSENCES – If you are emailing your child’s teacher about his/her absence, please copy in
[email protected] (our attendance secretary) and [email protected] (our health
technician).
DROPPING OFF AND PICKING UP CHILDREN - Please have children be on time during both
arrival and dismissal. Children should be sitting in their seats each morning at 9:25. In the afternoon, the
children get quite uncomfortable standing on concrete in the blowing wind for 20 or so minutes, so please
pick up on time. School dismisses at 3:50. Thanks! 
