Words Their Way—A Word
Study Program
•
Developmental spelling, phonics, and vocabulary
program
•
Based on extensive research literature and includes
stages of development and instructional levels
•
Provides differentiated efficient, effective instruction in
phonics, spelling, and vocabulary
•
Teachers assess a student’s pattern of word knowledge
and then introduce words that fit that pattern (and that
aligns with Curriculum 2.0)
•
Students engage in Word Sorts to focus on the specifics
of words and to learn how to examine words

• Please provide a simple, healthy snack for
your child (no peanut or tree nut items)
Birthdays
• If you want to send a simple treat, you
are most welcome to do so. Please notify
your child’s teacher in advance
Stonegate Folders
• The folder should be reviewed, emptied,
and returned daily
Reminders
• Sign the attendance roster
• Sign up for a November conference
• Volunteer as a Room Parent
• Complete the Parent Survey
• Write a note to your child(no cursive, please!)
• Consider contributing an item from the Giving
Tree/Wish List to our class (it is posted on the
classroom door)
