September 21-25, 2015 Marking Period 1 - Week 4 Second Grade Shark Shout Students will ask and answer “wh” questions to demonstrate understanding as well as describe how a character responds to challenges. Students will use sentences to determine the meaning of a word or phrase. Students will identify natural and human changes to water. Students will create a method to clean dirty water. Students will finish writing a narrative about a time they helped someone. Students will edit their writing for spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and word choice. Students will continue to work on building their fluency with math facts (adding and subtracting within 20). Students will compare two 3-digit numbers based on the value of hundreds, tens, and ones. Students will explain how rules promote responsibility, fairness, orderliness, and safety. Homework: Homework is discussed and handed out at the start of the week. It is due by Friday. Students will describe how different points of view might result in conflict or compromise. Friday Folders: Friday folder should be reviewed over the weekend and emptied. They should be signed and returned on the following school day. Our mission is clear and the possibilities are endless!
