Second Grade Shark Shout
Students will use various
text features to locate key
facts or information in a
text efficiently.
Students will describe how
reasons support specific
points that an author is
trying to make.
Students will use root words
to determine the meaning
of words.
Students will use symbols to
map out locations of land
and water features on an
island.
Students will create a 3-D
island using dough.
They will also write a travel
guide about their island.
Students will write an
opinion piece about a
healthy snack.
Students will strengthen
their writing by revising and
editing.
Students will compare
formal and informal
language depending on
the audience/reader of a
piece.
Students will focus on
Health Education skills this
week:

rules for taking
medicine safely

benefits of not using
tobacco

short-term effects of
alcohol on the body

refusal skills to resist
peer pressure
Students will use addition
and subtraction within 100
to solve one and two step
word problems with the
unknown in all positions.
Students will write equations
using a box or symbol for
the unknown number.
Students will apply
strategies to add and
subtract within 20.
The Halloween and
Harvest Festival will
be held on Friday,
October 30, 2015.
Come celebrate

festivities will begin
around 1:30.
