Second Grade Shark Shout
Students will ask and answer
questions to demonstrate
understanding of key details in
a text.
Students will write an
informative/explanatory text
which introduces a topic and
uses facts to develop points.
Students will know and use a
variety of text features to
locate key facts or information
in a text efficiently.
Topic:
My Greatest Accomplishment
Students will use an apostrophe
to show possession (Cindy’s dog)
Students will strengthen their
writing by revising and editing
with peers and adults.
Students will identify and
record observable properties
of the moon over time.
(Moon Journal Week #4)
Students will gather and
interpret information about
the past from an informational
source or biography.
Students will identify,
sequence, and describe the
stages in the life of a Painted
Lady caterpillar.
Focus:
Martin Luther King, Jr.
Students will record
observations about the Painted
Lady butterfly.
HOMEROOM
All of our caterpillars are
now in the chrysalis
stage. We are anxiously
awaiting the arrival of
our Painted Lady
butterflies. Will they
emerge next week?
Students will apply strategies to
solve subtraction problems within
1,000 which include decomposing
from tens to ones and/or
hundreds to tens.
Students will use the relationship
between addition and
subtraction to subtract a 3-digit
number from a 3-digit number.
Students will apply strategies to
mentally add and subtract
within 20.
Please ask your child
about the status of
their school supplies.
We have 6 weeks of
school left, and many
students are in need of
pencils and glue sticks.
