Keeping up with Kindergarten!

Welcome to Kindergarten at East Silver Spring!
We are very excited to welcome our new kindergarteners into our classes this
week! We will be keeping you up to date on what is going on this school year
through this monthly newsletter. You will receive a hard copy, and it will also be
posted to the ESS website each month. Homework will begin in October. Until
then, you can read to your child every night.
Here are some important things to
keep in mind for this school year to make
sure it is fun and successful!
 Make sure the teacher knows how your
child goes home from school each day.
If there are any changes, send a note to
the office/teacher. If it is a last minute
change, please call the office so the
teacher can be alerted.
 Make sure the teacher and the office
have updated contact information.
 Make sure your child is on time each
day (9:10am for breakfast; 9:25am
official start time).
 Please make sure to check your child’s
folder each day and send it back to
school each morning.
 Make sure your child has an extra
change of clothes at school –
accidents, milk spills, things happen!
 Kindergarten walkers are picked up at
3:50pm on the Kindergarten Playground
(below the basketball courts).

September 7th – NO SCHOOL
September 9th – Back to School Night,
6:30 - 8:00
September 14th – NO SCHOOL
September 23rd – NO SCHOOL
October 2nd – Early Release (1:20 pm)
October 16th – NO SCHOOL
