PP 22 PP Prepare to Procure May 31, 2011 RIT Procurement Services 475-2107 http://finweb.rit.edu/purchasing/ [email protected] Consider Institute Surplus Whenever we choose to recycle, we make a conscious effort to maximize resource use, minimize the volume of our waste stream and ultimately reduce overall costs to the University. Utilizing surplus property on campus is another great opportunity to help the University to reduce its carbon footprint. The RIT Surplus Property Program is designed to provide a cost effective, timely and efficient process to reallocate resources within RIT, and for disposing of unneeded goods at the highest practical rate of return to departments and RIT. Disposition of RIT's surplus property is the responsibility of the Procurement Services Office (PSO) through the administration of the Surplus Property procedure. The property disposition procedure applies to all University departments. As you reconfigure your office or workspace, make sure to forward your usable original furniture back to Building 99 so that it can enter the Surplus inventory rather than adding to the University waste stream. PSO routinely handles a variety of different commonly used office staples including: • • • • • Single and double pedestal desks Task, desk and side chairs Vertical and lateral file cabinets (2,3,4 and 5 drawers) Bookcases Tables These items are available for viewing in the warehouse space of Building 99 (Facilities Management Services) during regular working hours Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. A new 4-drawer file cabinet can retail for upwards of $923. A gently used 4-drawer of the same quality can be purchased from Surplus Property for $20. This purchase will also keep approximately 100 pounds out of University waste stream.
