TENNESSEE STATE UNIVERSITY Bachelor of Science in Sociology Curriculum The Bachelor of Science in Sociology prepares students for entry level professional employment in government, education and business, industry, and community organizations. The program also prepares students for graduate and professional study in Sociology and other social science disciplines, law, and business. The course of study is 30 hours. Introduction to Sociology Senior Project Social Institutions Core topics include: Introduction to Social Research Sociological Theory Social Statistics Career opportunities include employment in : local, state, and federal government business and industrial management social and community service agencies in the areas of: housing juvenile courts corrections urban & community planning/development health and drug counseling mental, youth guidance human services social and health research business and industrial management & management trainee programs in: retail insurance utilities manufacturing banking journalism You may begin pursuing this degree in the Fall, Spring or Summer semesters. Eligibility To be eligible to pursue this degree, you need to be enrolled as a TSU undergraduate, students must complete all of the requirements under the General Education Core and Other Requirements; in addition, they must have earned at least a C in SOCI 2010. They must have removed all high school deficiencies, passed all required remedial/developmental courses, and earned a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 on college-level coursework.
