Peace Days

Peace Days
Students in every class throughout the school are encouraged to
KEEP THE PEACE to earn Peace Days! To earn a Peace Day,
students in each of the classrooms, special classes, lunch and
recess must make positive choices and not be sent to the office
for behavior that disrupts classroom learning or the school day.
Peace days are a way to award the entire school for showing
respect towards others, working cooperatively as a team, and
making positive choices. Students have the power to make a
difference in class and in other areas of school by modeling
peaceful behavior each day.
When enough Peace Days have been earned, the whole school
receives an award. Students are informed if a Peace day was
earned and the total number of Peace Days for the school at the
end of each day prior to dismissal.
During 2011-2012, after earning 25 peace days, OES celebrated
by holding a “pajama day” with movie and popcorn during the last
30 minutes of school. After 50 days of peace, each grade level
celebrated at a 45-minute D.J. party in the all-purpose room.
After 75 peace days, each grade level had an extra 30 minutes of
recess, supervised by Mrs. Glawe and Dr. Fuller. We made 100
Peace Days on the last day of school!
