We will celebrate the 100th day and Valentine’s Day. We will learn about famous African Americans. In science, we will compare external features of plants and animals. In language arts, we will continue to add high frequency words to our Word Wall, identify color words, label pictures, and review letter-sound relationships and practice retelling stories. We will use these items to weigh and measure as part of our math lesson on the 100th day. In addition, we would like to make a “trail mix” made up of 100 raisins, 100 Cheerios, etc. If you can send in 100 edible items as well, we would appreciate it! Happy 100th Day to all!Kil February, 2016 Page 1 of 2 Valentine’s Day Party We will celebrate Valentine’s Day in the classrooms on Friday, February 12 from 2:45 – 3:30 p.m. Attached is a list of the children in our class. Please have your child address a valentine to each child in the class – great writing practice! Please send in the valentines as soon as your child has them labeled and ready to hand out to his/her friends on Friday at the classroom party. If you need paper to make your own valentines, we will send some home with your child. Let us know. It is important that each child receive a card so that we can celebrate that we are all friends in our class! ☺ In addition, we would welcome your help at the party. Let us know if you are able to attend. We will also be sending home requests for items to help us celebrate. Homework Homework journals are checked every Friday. Please continue to send in your child’s homework and note that you are reading together nightly. We appreciate being partners with you in learning! Share Bag in February Each Friday, kindergarten students give their friends clues about an item hidden in a Share Bag. The friends guess what the item is, based on the clues. You may bring a Share Bag any Friday, but it must be in a bag and write three clues about the item on the bag. February, 2016 Page 2 of 2
