Dear Parents,
We made it to June!  The children have worked very hard all year long and it shows
in all their work. What wonderful progress we have made!

In science, we will discuss the needs of living things at the beach/ocean as well as spring
animals and fish. In language arts, we will continue to review high frequency words, write
sentences on one topic, and read, read, read. In math, we will continue to model simple sums/differences and write number
sentences, estimate quantities, and identify and count money coins.
Please check for any guided reading books that have accidentally been left at your home. All books are due back to Drew on
Monday, June 1st!!
Please continue to read, read, read with your child this summer. Have them write about their summer adventures, especially if
you have any summer visitors or take any trips. Continuing to read and write every day will help your child maintain the
wonderful progress he/she has made this year!
For continued math growth, count, count, count! Count as you drive down the road. Count cars, or just count to 100. Have your
child solve simple math problems. For example, I see four cows. What if three more join them? How many cows will we see?
It has been a delight to share the learning adventure with you and your child. Happy Summer!
