 Digital IC Design, Reconfigurable Computing, Multiple Processor
Systems, Data and Communication Networks, Computer Vision
◦ 5 Elective courses
◦ Thesis
 Graduate seminar / Thesis proposal
 Thesis document, thesis defense and paper
Need to maintain GPA > 3.0
 Co-op is optional (summer term; 2 terms maximum)

◦ Co-op will be granted only if you are in good academic
standing and with advisor recommendation

Thesis Research Progress

Attend Graduate Seminar and select a general
area of research
Work with a faculty advisor to identify your thesis
topic
Form your Thesis Committee
Write your Thesis Proposal (and pass the Thesis
Proposal as part of Graduate Seminar)
Do the research work
Write your thesis
Write a paper based on your thesis

Expected Schedule for Thesis




Graduate Seminar mandatory until passing basic Thesis
Proposal requirements
Thesis proposal expected by end of 1st year for MS, by
end of 4th year for BSMS
Thesis defense by end of 2nd year for MS and by end
of 5th year for BSMS (not all faculty are available in
summer)
If thesis work cannot be done within the program-ofstudy time frame, submit a letter-of-intent (LOI) to the
CE office, which should include
◦ Plan to finish the thesis with committee signatures
◦ Thesis proposal
◦ Advisor recommendation


Tuition Scholarship
Awarded for first year
Could change depending on Grades

WARNING: Avoid Probation or Suspension
Requirement: GPA>=3.0 each semester/overall
PRB/SUS result in loss of scholarship

Second year support
You may apply for tuition scholarship
You may apply to the dept for TA
You may ask your thesis advisor for RA

TA/RA support is possible in the first year in special
cases with outstanding academic performance
