WEEKLY UPDATE Greenwood Elementary School Brookeville, MD 3/ 11/ 16 Second Grade Reading Students have been recounting key ideas and details from poetry, using sentencelevel context as clues to the meanings of words and phrases, and using individual words to predict the meaning of compound words. In groups, students are asking and answering such questions as who, what, when, why, and how to demonstrate understanding of key details in a text. Also, we have been describing how characters in a story respond to challenges.
