First Grade Happenings
October 15, 2015
Reading
Math
We continued reading informational texts.
We asked and answered questions about a
the contributions of a past leader.
We also identified text features and
explained how they help the reader.
This week we solved story problems by
identifying what was being asked, drawing
a picture to show our work, and writing an
equation.
We added and subtracted using a number
Writing
Science
We wrote informative texts about
different leaders.
We wrote a topic sentence and facts
about a past leader from our research on a
past leader.
We identified plants that are in our
schoolyard.
We also conducted an investigation that
asked, “How does food coloring
affect celery?”
Social Studies
Other
We continued to learn about the
contributions of past leaders.
It was great to see so many parents at our
Open House on Monday. Thanks for coming!
