Week of September 18th

First Grade Happenings
September 18, 2015
Reading
Math
We read Lilly’s Purple Plastic Purse and
Julius, the Baby of the World
by Kevin Henkes.
We asked and answered questions using
key details. We also compared characters.
This week we identified missing numbers
within 120 by using patterns found on a 1120 chart. We also compared and reasoned
about 2 2-digit numbers using symbols.
For example, 53>19.
Writing
Science
We recalled information about a day in
first grade. We wrote sequenced events
that happen during our day. We added
adjectives to our writings.
We identified the basic needs of animals.
We also described ways animals manage to
bring the things they need from their environment into their bodies.
Social Studies
Other
We identified responsibilities of pet
owners. We also identified rights and
responsibilities at home, school,
and in the community.
If you didn't get a chance to sign up for
November Conferences please
contact your child’s teacher to schedule a
