Week of September 11th

First Grade Happenings
September 11, 2015
Reading
Math
We read Wemberly Worried and
Chrysanthemum by Kevin Henkes.
This week we counted forward and backward from a given number. We also identified one more or less than a given number
using a 120 chart.
We retold the stories we read with key
details using a five finger retell strategy.
Writing
Science
We recalled information from experiences
to write narratives. We sequenced events
that happened in these experiences.
We discussed precautions to take when
observing schoolyard animals. We found
quite a few animals in our schoolyard!
Social Studies
Other
We identified responsibilities and choices
we have at home, school, and in our
community..
It was great to see so many parents at Back
To School Night. Thank you for coming!
If you didn't get a chance to come, please
contact your child’s teacher to schedule a
conference in November.
Note From Mrs. Copp
Please send in an extra pair of clothes for your
child in the event of an accident or getting wet or
dirty at recess time. Thanks!
