Week of September 4th

First Grade Happenings
September 4, 2015
Reading
Math
We read many books this week to help us
establish rules for our classrooms. Office
Buckle and Gloria was a favorite!
This week we counted collections of items
using different strategies. We also made
group sets of 10s and 1s.
We retold the stories we read with key
details.
Writing
Science/Health
We read about a boy's summer vacation in
How I Spent My Summer Vacation. We
then wrote narratives which recounted
events from our summers.
We discussed the meaning of choice and
decision and described what makes a good
choice and decision. We also described our
feelings about starting a new school year.
Social Studies
Other
We created rules for our classroom and
discussed the importance of following rules
in school. We also discussed the
responsibilities we all have in school–
students, teachers, and parents.
We have had a great first week of
first grade! Thank you for completing all forms in a timely manner!
It is appreciated!
Note From Mrs. Copp
Please send in an extra pair of clothes for your
child in the event of an accident or getting wet or
dirty at recess time. Thanks!
