What a great start of the year!
Are you interested in being a room parent? Please let your child’s
teacher know if you have the time to be involved in the classroom.
We will be celebrating throughout the year so be on the look-out for
donations needed for the classroom!
Remember to check Wednesday Folders!
This school year, we will be discussing and analyzing the different genres
of literature. We began the year reading and creating adventure stories.
We looked at characteristics, theme, point of view and structure of
adventure stories. We are transitioning to our next genre study,
Traditional Stories with the focus on Tall Tales and Myths.
Everyday students are working towards
multiplication fluency! We have worked on
calculating volume on regular and irregular
rectangular prisms by using the formula (v=l x w x
h). We are using our knowledge of place value and
expanded notation and will transition into adding
and subtracting decimals.
In science, we are working on force and motion and understanding Newton’s three
laws of gravity. Students will begin to research multiple types of energy and apply
this knowledge into their science/writing inquiry project.
In social studies, we are learning about colonial economies and colonial ways of
living. We will be transitioning into how the Unite d States of America was founded
by recognizing the British policies and the colonist reactions which overall resulted
in the American Revolution.
