As we end the second quarter and look forward to the third, students will
continue to strengthen their knowledge and use of reading strategies. Students
will also identify the characteristics of poetry, realistic fiction and literary nonfiction- graphic novels. Students will make inferences, identify main idea and key
details as well as integrate information from two texts to explain the author’s
purpose. Students will also be engaged in collaborative discussions to deepen
meaning of text via vocabulary development.
Everyday students are working towards
multiplication fluency! Students will continue to
develop their knowledge of Numbers and
Operations by use of fractions. Students will use
equations, area models, and number line models to
multiply a whole number or a fraction by a fraction,
including mixed numbers. Students will also solve
measurement problems using line plots.
In Science, students will explore Astronomy! They will investigate celestial patterns,
light and shadow, as well as properties and patterns of Earth and stars.
