Dear Parent/Guardians:
Once again, Cedar Grove is
excited to offer a summer school program.
This program is designed to
promote learning throughout the summer,
prevent “summer slide,” and to offer a preview of skills and concepts that will be taught at the next
grade level. Our teachers will incorporate the MCPS curriculum in a fun hands-on learning
environment, incorporate technology applications in classrooms and the media center, and include
weekly special events and programs. Our program is open to students entering kindergarten through
5th grade regardless of your child’s school assignment next year.
This year’s program will start on July 11, 2016 and run through July 29, 2016. The hours are 9:00
a.m. – 12:00 noon. The cost for this three-week program will be $300. We are planning to fill
teaching positions with staff from Cedar Grove. No breakfast or lunch will be provided, but students
may bring a snack each day.
Bus transportation to and from the summer school program may be provided if a sufficient number of
parents indicate that such transportation is needed. This bus transportation will be provided to the
first 50 students within Cedar Grove boundaries. If your child attends Kidsco at Little Bennett ES, we
could possibly make that a bus stop as well. No patrols will be on duty so adult supervision and
prompt pick-up at bus stops are very important. Parents will bear full responsibility for children’s
safety both boarding and after departing the bus. An accurate bus run will be provided by
transportation once the enrollment process is completed. In the same case as the bus transportation,
car pools must arrive and pick up on time.
If you are interested in our program, please complete page one and page two of the registration form
and return both by March 23, 2016. **Classes could be combined or cancelled if the minimum
enrollment of 17 students per class is not met. If not enough children are enrolled, Summer School
may be cancelled.
Checks should be made payable to Cedar Grove ES or can be made on-line through the Cedar
Grove website. Full refunds will be issued if we are unable to hold the program.

Before/Afternoon Care: The Montgomery County Recreation Department is holding
camps/activities here at Cedar Grove this summer. This program runs from 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Please use Course #13419 when registering. (Please note that this program is only for children who
have already completed kindergarten). This program fills up quickly so don’t wait to register.
