PTA President's Welcome Letter

August, 2015
Dear Cedar Grove Families,
Welcome back to school! To our new families, hello and welcome to our wonderful school.
I look forward to meeting you and getting to know those of you I haven’t met. Our students are so fortunate
to be enrolled in a school with an outstanding administration and exceptional teachers, who strive to make
our children excel in so many areas, while teaching them using a variety of methods and resources.
It is through your support of the PTA that we join in that mission. Please consider joining the PTA! It is
through your PTA dollars that we were able to purchase a class set of Chromebooks for the 4 th graders last
year. Without our purchase, your 4th grader would not have had them this year due to the county budget cuts.
This year we are doing something different!
Instead of asking you to buy food or products you don’t really need, and the school only getting a small
percentage of the money anyway, we are having a “FEED THE BEARS” campaign!
It is a direct donation fundraiser where you simply write a check to the PTA and 100% of the money goes
directly to the students and staff at CGES!
There will be incentives for each class to win some fun prizes, so look for more information about this to
come!
Every year I hear a few parents say they don’t feel connected to the school or know what’s going on. With
busy schedules all around, I understand it’s not easy to keep on top of all the activities. The PTA Board will be
doing our best to communicate school activities regularly and concisely. We are planning regular emails and
Facebook posts, with short reminders of what’s happening in the school. The monthly Bear Facts newsletter
will now have a monthly calendar for easy reference. Still the best way to know what’s really happening in the
school is to come in and see for yourself.
Our Back to School Picnic is scheduled for Friday, September 11 from 5:30-7:30pm and will kick off the school
year of fun. It’s a great way to introduce yourself to the staff, meet new families in your children’s classes and
find out more about the PTA. We will have a PTA table set up and hopefully can answer any of your
questions. We hope to see you all there.
Our PTA meetings will be held the first Tuesday of the month at 7pm. We will have babysitting services
available. We hope to see more of your faces at our meetings. Our first meeting will be held on October 6th in
the Media Center.
I am very excited to be involved in the PTA again this year. The Board has been working this summer to plan
fun activities for this school year, so hopefully you can join us at some of our events! Take the volunteer
challenge to help your children’s school and yourself. Just 1-2 hours of your time per month, can and does
make a difference.
Sincerely,
Michele Tregoning
PTA President
