Spring 2011 Salad Table Science supported by the Audubon Naturalist Society
First graders planted, tended, thinned, harvested and ate salad greens while learning about plant growth and
development. Data was collected for daily temperature, rainfall, and soil conditions. ‘Focus plants’ were marked for
regular observation. Students were introduced to the concept of eating locally.
