Method Book:
MCPS will provide one book for each new instrumental student. I have provided this information in the event
a replacement is needed.
Essential Elements 2000, BOOK 1 – Hal Leonard Publishing Company. Buy only the appropriate book
for your student’s instrument. Each book costs $8.99 and comes with a CD and DVD for home practice.
Essential Elements 2000, BOOK 1 for the following woodwind/brass instruments: flute, clarinet, saxophone,
trumpet, trombone, baritone horn. Tim Lautzenheiser, et al. Percussion book costs $14.99
Essential Elements 2000, BOOK 1 for the following string instruments: violin, viola, cello, string bass.

Most music stores carry these books, but call ahead to make sure. Orders may also be placed online (be sure
the book is of the correct instrument and the CD and DVD are included).
