Maya Angelou Mission Clearspring Elementary School is dedicated to working with parents and the community to promote the overall growth and development of the students so they become responsible, respectful, and productive members of society. Message from the principal
: What a start to our second semester! The snow was wild! I hope everyone remained safe and had some fun at the same time! With the snow, we had to cancel our Blue and White assemblies. Teachers gave out certificates to students within their classrooms. Super Huskies are being announced on the morning announcements. Valentine’s Day is coming
!! An “alternative to the party” letter went home this week. If you do not want your child to participate, please complete that form and return it ASAP. Teachers will be sending home a list of allergies present in your child’s classroom.
If you are donating food, it must be store bought with the ingredients listed. You may not purchase items that contain any of the allergens listed.
Thank you for supporting us in keeping our children safe. We are currently in the middle of winter testing.
All grades are taking math and reading assessments
(K2 will take the mClass for reading and MAPP for math; 35 will take the MAPR for reading and the MAPM for math). Teachers use this information (along with day to day data) to determine the instructional needs of students. If you park on the street and walk down to the school to pick up your child,
please do not walk in front of or in between the buses to get back to the road. It is very dangerous. You must use the sidewalk in order to keep all safe! Thank you to our PTA!
!! We had a wonderful assembly today featuring Polynesian Dancing! The students were completely engaged! It was fabulous! Have a fabulous weekend!!! Mrs. Gilbertson
Celebrations Congratulations to fifth graders,
Kaustubh Bhal and Aiden Kelley!
Their team has reached state level in First Lego League. Their project has caught WSSC attention and now they are invited to present in front of WSSC state commission meeting in two weeks. In First Lego League, tomorrow’s innovators practice imaginative thinking and teamwork. Guided by adult Coaches, League teams research a realworld problem such as food safety, recycling, energy, etc., and are challenged to develop a solution. They also must design, build, program a ®
robot using Lego Mindstorms
technology, then compete on a tabletop playing field. Husky News Do you live within the Clearspring boundaries and have or know someone who will have a five year old on or st

I know they are always (especially the younger troops) limited in what they can say or write. Tanner's family is local and I'm so happy we could give to them and brighten their holidays! Maggy Dear Maggy Singer and the kids of Clearspring Elementary, Thank you so much for all of the packages you guys sent us. I was able to give every soldier in my platoon a package and they all appreciate it very much. Thank you all for your support it means a lot to us over here. Thank you, Tanner Headrick and 1st Platoon Counselor’s Corner Happy February! I’m starting this month out with a lot of makeup lessons due to the snow storm. Luckily, we were able to get our PBIS Power Lunch in on January 15th before the snow hit. About 150 student turned in their paws to attend this fun, pizzafilled endofquarter event. I made a Clearspring Expectations review video with the 1st quarter Super Huskies it will be making its debut in classrooms next week to kick off the second half of the school year. I’ve been into many classes this year and in previous years to talk about Cyber bullying and Internet safety. Unfortunately, with all the good that comes with being able to connect with others and gain knowledge online, there is also a lot of trouble children can get into when interacting with others online and exploring developmentally inappropriate sites and apps. As parents, it is important to monitor and regulate your child’s Internet use in order to avoid any pitfalls that come along with children having free range online. To promote Internet safety, it is a good idea to have your children use computers and other connected devices in shared areas of the house (not their bedrooms). Also, you should have the passwords to all of their online accounts. NetSmartz.org has a wealth of additional information on how to keep your children safe online, as well as activities and videos your children can access to learn about staying safe while online. Take care! Mrs. Gray
