Announcements
a. Invitation to Manifestation of a Guatemalan Folk Saint Exhibition - Sales invited the
committee, on behalf of Peri Klemm and the Art Department, to the Manifestation of a
Guatemalan Folk Saint Exhibition. The exhibition is featured at the CSUN Art Gallery.
The exhibition will be available until the 13th of December.

Approval of Minutes – The minutes from the November 14, 2014 meeting were approved
without amendments.

Chair Report
a. ACAT Meeting Update - Sales shared there was discussion on the development of
educational apps. There is question on who will own the intellectual property.
Suggestions were made to developing a competition among students with a cash price
and sponsoring classrooms to create apps. Sales added there was additional discussion
on ePortfolio and library storage. Diane Stephens discussed the electronic assessment
systems and moving the assessment materials as virtual documents. Diane Stephens
also noted lab printing will be deploying the 19th of February.

Previous Meeting Action Items Review
a. Information Security Awareness Training – Quillian shared that the Information
Security Awareness Training link has been added to the IT Information Security pagelet
of the Faculty tab.
b. IT Survey – (http://www.csun.edu/it/surveys) – Quillian shared that the Summary of Key
Findings from 2014, IT Survey Analysis, and IT Infographics are available to view online.
Sales stated he would share the webpage link with the committee.
c. Lynda.com – Quillian shared that the Creative Media Studio lab in the Oviatt Library is
actively using Lynda.com and finding it to be very useful.
d. Captioning Document – Quillian shared that a captioning document will be posted soon
on the accessibility webpage and shared with the committee.

VP/CIO’s Report
a. Faculty Showcase (https://mycsun.app.box.com/s/zpquypmtiu6txxrtdz35) – Perez
shared a brief summary of this year’s Annual Faculty Showcased titled “Celebrating
Technology in the Digital Age,” that took place on the 27th of October. The recoded
showcase may be viewed on the Academic Technology CSUN YouTube channel
(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Muoyvz0Ijg4 ). Sales sated he would share the
program with the committee.
b. eLearning Grant – Perez stated all faculty is invited to apply for the CSUN eLearning
Grant. eLearning is the new umbrella term that the Academic Technology is using to
subsume course redesign, eTexts, tablet redesign, lecture capture, and all forms of
technology-enhanced pedagogy. Successful applicants will go through a 1-week
Institute over the summer to receive assistance on the projects that they have
proposed. The dates are June 15-19, July 20-24, and August 3-7. The application
deadline is the 8th of December. The

Discussion Topics
a. Information Architecture (http://library.csun.edu/skutay) - Kutay summarized the
Information Architecture & Higher Education presentation.
b. Proposed Student/Faculty Electronic Communication Resolution - Sales read the
proposed resolution on Student/Faculty Electronic Communication for CSUN Syllabi.
The proposed resolution was approved by ATC, with one abstention, and it will be
presented to Faculty Senate.
7.
Department/College Issues – None
a. Kamalmazyan inquired if it is mandatory for all staff and students to take the training.
Hillbruner will provide additional information at a future ATC meeting.
b. Shaver shared he created an app for his senior project and the professor informed him
the university would hold a percentage of the proceeds. Schantz shared he is unaware
of such a policy.
