In classroom lessons your child is learning…
Know and talk about our 3 Core Values
Be Respectful ~ Be Responsible ~ Be Ready to Learn
Our Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports at Sargent Shriver…
teaches students to know exactly how they are expected to behave no matter where they are at
school ~ classroom, halls, playground. Students are earning Compliment Cards in different areas
in the building such as lunch, recess, hallways, specials, and classes. The class from each grade
level with the most Compliment Cards monthly, will earn a special treat and their class picture
displayed on our Terp Wall.
How do we help children grow in showing respect at school and at home?
 Expect respect – in words and actions. From saying “excuse me”, giving compliments, to
holding doors open for others.
 Walk the talk- don’t forget that demonstrating positive behavior is very powerful
 Encourage respectful solutions - if a child makes a poor choice help him or her think of
different ways to deal with the solution.
 Be Kind ~ demonstrate the use of kind words and actions towards others as children learn
by watching adults
