January is Conflict Resolution Month
DID YOU KNOW?
What is Conflict Resolution (kid friendly)? Conflict
resolution is how problems are solved or solutions that
are created in order to solve problems in a positive
way.
Problem solving is a lifelong skill that is used both at
school and home.
Counselor Tip for Students: Using an “I”
Message provides a way for you to express yourself in
a positive way:
 State how you feel
 Explain what happened to make you feel that way
 Describe what you want the other person to do.
Counselor Tip for Parents: Help your child
problem solve in a positive way by encouraging these
problem solving steps:
 State the problem
 Think of a solution
 Explore consequences of the solution
 Pick the best solution

LEARN HOW TO SOLVE CONFLICTS BY CREATING SOLUTIONS
AND EXPLORING CONSEQUENCES.
SCHOOL WIDE EVENTS:
No Name Calling Week, 1/18/16-1/22/16
Students will participate in activities which promote a culture of respect and kindness.
Students will examine ways to include others, appreciate the differences of others,
and ways to stand up to disrespectful behavior.
Career Day
We are starting to plan our Career Day which will take place in May. If you are
interested in sharing your career with our students, please contact Ms. Danielson, Ms.
