Dear Sargent Shriver Families,
As the leaves turn to fall colors, you can be sure teachers are collaborating to provide your children with real-life learning experiences that will make them lifelong learners in the 21st century. However, good nutrition is essential for academic success. Breakfast is the most important meal of your children’s day. Breakfast gives you a chance to start each day
with a healthy and nutritious meal. It also lays the foundation for lifelong health benefits. To make sure your child has
breakfast, consider packing a brown-bag breakfast to be eaten on the way to school.
Below are a few reasons to ensure kids get a healthy breakfast:
Studies show that children who eat breakfast

Concentrate better and are alert

Have a faster memory recall

Perform better on tests

Have fewer discipline problems

Have fewer visits to the nurse

Miss fewer days of school

Are more creative
The staff at Sargent Shriver Elementary School is dedicated to ensuring that all students do well. We are appreciative to
have families who continue to support our efforts to increasing student learning.
Thank you for all of your support!
Respectfully,
Zoraida Brown,
Principal
Stop bullying now
By: Natharie Anthony in Ms.Portillo’s class
We can help stop bullying by speaking up for someone else. If
you just stand there and watch bullying you are being a bully.
But if you tell on that person, you can stop bullying. What is
bullying? Bullying is doing something mean over and over
again. For example, if I keep kicking my friend over and over
again, I am bullying her.
Here is another example but it is about helping to stop bullying. For example I saw my friend getting bullied. Someone
else was hitting a ball on her head. I said stop or I will tell on
you and the bully said sorry and became her friend. That is
how you can help to stop bullying and what you should not
do! That is my article about bullying.
