Sargent Shriver Elementary School (SSES) :
Acceptable Use Policy and Agreement for Technology and Internet Use
The purpose of this document is to describe the expectations for students as they use the Internet and
other technology tools for learning. Please review and discuss this document with your child, sign it, and
return it to the school by Friday, September 6.
Acceptable Use of Technology
The SSES technology is intended for instructional use and school related business.
Acceptable use of the Internet
Students are expected to have safe, responsible, and respectful behavior on the Internet just as they are
in the classroom or anywhere on the school premises. Students in grades K-5 may access approved
online resources under the supervision of their teacher.
Collaborative Applications
SSES is beginning to use a number of technology tools to enhance instruction and educate students
about safe and effective practices when interacting online. Students may be using web based
collaborative applications (grade level appropriate) to create and post their work to the Internet.
Examples of these tools include but are not limited to WebEx, Edmodo, Glogster EDU, Google apps,
Wikispaces, eduBlogs and ePals. These tools are appropriate for use in educational settings and are
being used by educators around the world. All web based collaborative application activities are
designed to protect student privacy. Teachers who use these tools establish a semi-closed community,
where participants involved in the project can read and/or post usernames which may be anonymous or
only include first names.
Responsibility of Users
Inappropriate use as outlined on the agreement form will result in the temporary or permanent
termination of technology access in addition to applicable disciplinary action in accordance with the
SSES discipline policy. (More on the back

Acceptable Use of Technology and Internet Use Agreement
Students will demonstrate responsible, respectful, and safe use of the technology and Internet by
agreeing to the following:
I will be RESPONSIBLE by:
-handling all school system technology carefully (i.e., walking and using 2 hands when carrying
devices)
-giving credit to the original source when gathering information from the internet (i.e. making a
bibliography or works cited list when using images, information, etc. from the Internet)
-reporting inappropriate use of technology or the Internet to an adult
-only using programs or websites the teacher has assigned
-not copying or plagiarizing the work of others
I will be RESPECTFUL by:
-only creating, opening, downloading, saving, or printing files, images, messages that represent good
citizenship (i.e. using unkind or hurtful words will not be tolerated)
I will be SAFE by:
-not revealing personal information about myself (i.e. last name, phone number, address,etc.) on the
Internet
-not sharing my password with anyone

Política de Uso Aceptable y Acuerdo de Tecnología y el uso de Internet
El propósito de este documento es describir las expectativas que tenemos para los estudiantes, cuando utilizan la
Internet y otras herramientas tecnológicas para el aprendizaje. Por favor, revisar y discutir este documento con su
hijo/a, firmarlo y devolverlo a la escuela en o antes del viernes, 6 de septiembre.
Uso Aceptable de Tecnología
La tecnología de SSES es para uso educativo y de negocios relacionados con la escuela.
El uso aceptable de Internet
Los estudiantes deben tener un comportamiento seguro, responsable y respetuoso en el Internet tal y como son
en el aula o en cualquier parte de las instalaciones de la escuela. Los estudiantes en los grados K-5 pueden tener
acceso a los recursos aprobados en línea bajo la supervisión de su maestro/a.
Aplicaciones de Colaboración
SSES está empezando a utilizar una serie de herramientas tecnológicas para mejorar la enseñanza y educar a los
estudiantes acerca de las prácticas seguras y eficaces en la interacción en línea. Los estudiantes pueden estar
utilizando aplicaciones de colaboración basadas en el Web (nivel de grado apropiado) para crear y publicar su
trabajo en el Internet. Ejemplos de estas herramientas incluyen, pero no se limitan a WebEx, Edmodo, Glogster
EDU, aplicaciones de Google, Wikispaces, Edublogs y ePals. Estas herramientas son apropiadas para su uso en
entornos educativos y son utilizados por los educadores de todo el mundo. Todas las actividades de las
aplicaciones de colaboración basadas en el Web están diseñadas para proteger la privacidad del estudiante. Los
maestros que utilizan estas herramientas a establecen una comunidad semi-cerrada, donde los participantes
involucrados en el proyecto puedan leer y / o colocar los nombres de usuario, cuales puede ser anónima o incluir
solamente nombres (sin apellidos).
Responsabilidad de los Usuarios

resultará en la terminación temporal o permanente de acceso a la tecnología, además de las medidas
disciplinarias aplicables de conformidad con la política de disciplina SSES.

Los estudiantes demostrarán el uso de tecnología y el Internet que es responsable, respetuoso, y seguro por
ponerse de acuerdo con lo siguiente:

- El manejo de toda la tecnología del sistema escolar con cuidado (por ejemplo, caminar y usar 2 manos cuando
llevando dispositivos)
- Dar crédito a la fuente original cuando la recopilación de información a través de Internet (es decir, hacer una
bibliografía o lista de trabajos citados en el uso de imágenes, información, etc. a través de Internet)
- Informar de un uso indebido de la tecnología o Internet a un adulto
- Sólo usar programas o páginas web que el maestro ha asignado

- sólo crear, abrir, descargar, guardar o imprimir archivos, imágenes, mensajes que representan ciudadanía buena
