Sargent Shriver Open House
Parents, guardians, and grandparents of Sargent Shriver
Elementary School students are invited and encouraged to
attend our Open House on Columbus Day, Monday, October
12, from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Montgomery County Public
Schools (MCPS) encourages parents to visit on this day. Open
House is an opportunity for our families to “experience” the
school and classroom alongside their children.

Division of Title 1 Programs
In MCPS, Title I is one of several grants supervised by the Division
of Title I Programs (DTP). This DTP website contains information
about the “No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act of 2001, the Title 1
Program in MCPS, and links to county, state, and federal websites.

Ms. Njeri Williams is an assistant principal.
 What do you like about our school?
 I really like how all of our students come to school eager to learn and want to be at
school every day. I love that we have a dedicated staff that gives a lot to support the
school.
 What is your favorite childhood book?
 My favorite childhood books are Giving Tree and Missing Piece by Shel Silverstein.

Saturday School:
Is a tutoring and mentoring program for the students of Montgomery County.
Parents may register in person at the center their children will attend or on online using the
following link: http://www.saturdayschool.org
A registration fee of $40 for students who receive Free and Reduced Meal Services (FARMS)
and $70 for students who do not receive FARMS is required to register. A payment plan is
available at all Saturday School sites and can be completed at registration.
Saturday School at Wheaton High School located at A. Mario Loiederman Middle School tutors and mentors students in
kindergarten through grade 12. Please look in your children’s Thursday Folders for more information.
