students. We appreciate and depend on our wonderful parents, grandparents, and friends who volunteer at our
School. Ask your child's teacher how you can help in their
classroom or around the school building.

Answer your children’s endless “why” questions patiently.
 When you say, “I do not know. Let’s look it up”, you
are showing how
important books or online resources are for answering
questions they do not know.

Be Aware of Bullying Behavior
The way boys bully or are bullied is different from the way girls bully or are bullied.


Boys are most often bullied by other boys.




They may be pushed, tripped, hit, or spit on.
They may be threatened with bodily harm.
They may be challenged to do something.
They may be called names or hear other comments made about sexual
orientation.
Girls are most often bullied by other boys and/or girls.



They may be embarrassed by comments about their weight, hair, or clothes.
They may be excluded from group activities.
They may be called names or hear other comments made about their sexual behavior.
They may be threatened if they talk to a certain boy.

Saturday School:
It is not too late to register your child for Saturday School! This program offers low cost small
group instruction by MCPS teachers using the school curriculum. It is a great way to build your
child’s academic skills. For more information, go to the link below:

A registration fee of $40 for students who receive Free and Reduced Meal Services (FARMS)
and $70 for students who do not receive FARMS is required to register. A payment plan is
available at all Saturday School sites and can be completed at registration.
