Homework
We have completed our first two months of our school
wide reading incentive program, Go for the Gold, and
need your continued support with children’s efforts to
“become a millionaire” by identifying a time and place,
each day, where they can read. Remember, seeing you
read or reading together would be a wonderful way to
help our students become life-long readers Please
capture these moments and send the pictures to school
so we can see all our BGES students going for the gold!
Words of the Month
In the Third quarter students will be focusing on the
TASS (thinking and academic success skill) of
intellectual risk taking. Students will work on
accepting uncertainty or challenging the norm when
completing work at school.
Additionally, students will focus on the Creative
Thinking Skill pertaining to originality and how this
can help them solve problems, create new things,
and explain their thinking.
Highlights
We are completing our intensive learning about a
technology that has changed over time to meet the
needs and wants of humans. Students have created
timelines representing this change.
During the new marking period, students will try their
hand at writing a picture book-illustrations and all- as
they read historical fiction books that feature strong,
determined main characters.
Fractions, fractions, fractions! We have launched an
in-depth study of fractions as our students gain an
understanding of how important it is to partition the
whole equally when determining numerators and
denominators.
Reminders
*Encourage your children to study their basic
multiplication facts each night.
*In our efforts to minimize sickness, we have students
use Lysol wipes to clean their desks weekly. Any
donations would be GREATLY appreciated
