Dear Parents and Guardians:
At our Town Meetings in November for grades 1-5, we talked about Hope. It is important that our children
have hope now and in the future. It is important to discuss the topic of hope with regards to academic and
personal goals. It is not too early for students to begin thinking about what they want for themselves in life and
visualize it. I am very happy to hear students speak about what hope and hard work will do for them now and in
the future. Please continue to support the children with maintaining high expectations by doing the following:
• Talk to the children about what is happening in school and about the importance of working hard in
school
• Make sure children come to school every day on time unless they are sick
• Make sure children do their homework and schoolwork regularly
• Dedicate time to work with children at home
• Provide guidance and nurture throughout the process of learning
As we have done for the last two years, we ask that parents fill out the Hope Leave and send it back to school so
we can display it on our Hope Tree. A Hope Leaf came home today with this newsletter. We thank you for
your continued support.

News That You Can Use:

The next Principal’s Coffee and Conversation is on Tuesday, December 8th at 9:30 in the All-Purpose
Room. The topic will be how you can help your child become a better reader.
 Free nasal spray flu vaccine (FluMist) clinic on December 15, 2015 at school during the day. Only the
nasal spray vaccine is available. To sign up for an appointment, please call the health room and speak
with our Health Technician, Mrs. Davis. Parents will need to sign a consent form and send back to
school.
 Tomorrow, December 5th is our PTA sponsored Craft Fair from 9-2 PM at school. Come support our
local crafters and get ready for the Holidays!
 Title I Information
Our school is fortunate to receive supplemental funding through Title I, a federal grant program for schools that
serves communities with students who have high economic needs. The federal legislation that establishes Title
I regulations is known as the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (NCLB). The NCLB requires Montgomery
County Public Schools to inform you that you have the right to request information about the professional
certification qualifications of your child’s teacher, substitute teacher, or paraeducator (formerly titled
instructional assistant).

If you wish to request certification information about your child’s teacher, paraeducator, or long term substitute
teacher, please submit a written request to Mr. Muhammad. Your written inquiry may include information
about the following qualifications:
 Degree status and subject area or certification
 State of Maryland certification status, including conditional certification status
 Qualifications of paraeducators or long-term substitute teachers who may be working with your student.
Your request will be forwarded to the Office of Human Resources and Development, and you will receive a
written response from them within 30 business days.

Estimados Padres y Tutores:
En nuestras reuniones de noviembre para los grados 1-5, hablamos de la Esperanza. Es importante que nuestros
niños tengan esperanza ahora y en el futuro. Es importante discutir el tema de la esperanza con respecto a los
objetivos académicos y personales. No es demasiado pronto para que los estudiantes comienzan a pensar en lo
que quieren para sí mismos en la vida y visualizarlo. Estoy muy feliz de escuchar los estudiantes habla r sobre lo
que la esperanza y el trabajo duro pueden ayudarles ahora y en el futuro. Por favor continúen apoyando a los
niños y manteniendo altas expectativas haciendo lo siguiente:
• Hable con los niños sobre lo que está sucediendo en la escuela y sobre la importancia de trabajar duro
en la escuela.
• Asegúrese de que los niños vienen a la escuela todos los días a tiempo a menos que estén enfermos
• Asegúrese de que los niños hacen sus tareas y trabajos escolares con regularidad
• Dedique tiempo para trabajar con los niños en casa
• Provee cuidado y orientación en todo el proceso del aprendizaje
Como lo hemos hecho durante los últimos dos años, pedimos que los padres llenen la hoja de la esperanza y
regrésenla a la escuela para que así podamos mostrarla en nuestro árbol de la esperanza. Una hoja de la

Noticias que puede utilizar:

El siguiente café y conversación con el director es el martes 8 de diciembre a las 9:30 en la cafeteria. El
tema será cómo puede ayudar a su hijo a ser un mejor lector.
 Clínica gratis para la vacuna aerosol nasal contra la gripe (FluMist) el 15 de diciembre de 2015 en la
escuela durante el día. Sólo la vacuna en aerosol nasal está disponible. Para solicitar una cita, llame a la
enfermería y hable con nuestra técnica, la Sra. Davis. Los padres necesitarán firmar un formulario de
consentimiento y enviarlo a la escuela.
 Mañana, 5 de diciembre nuestra PTA tendrá una feria de artesanía de 9 a 2 de la tarde en la escuela.
Venga a apoyar a nuestros artesanos locales y preparase para las fiestas!
 Información de Título I
Nuestra escuela es afortunada en recibir financiación complementaria a través de Título I, un programa federal
para escuelas que sirven a las comunidades con estudiantes que tienen alta necesidad económica. La legislación

siguientes requisitos:
 Área de estado y tema de certificación
 Estado de certificación del estado de Maryland, incluyendo certificación condicional
 Calificaciones de paraeducadores o maestros a largo plazo que pueden estar trabajando con su
estudiante.
Su petición se enviará a la oficina de recursos humanos y desarrollo, y usted recibirá una respuesta por escrito
