Dear Parents and Guardians:
I hope everyone is excited about this awesome weather we have been having. Spring refreshes the mind, body
and spirit. Our school allocations are in and there are little changes for next year. Please review the chart
below. The chart is not an exhaustive list of all positions, I will share that information at our April PTA
meeting. We are now in our big testing season where students in grades 3-5 will be taking the PARCC
Assessment in May. The April 12th Principal’s Coffee will be on testing. We will also have time for open
forum so please participate if you can at 9:30 in the all-purpose room.

News That You Can Use:
Kindergarten Orientation
Brookhaven will be having Kindergarten Orientation on May 19 & 20. In order to enter Kindergarten
for the 2016-2017 school year, your child must be 5 years old on or before September 1, 2016. Please
call the school at 301-460-2140 for more information. Please note that there will be no classed held for
current Kindergarten students on these two days.
Spring Book Fair
Get ready, our Spring Buy One Get One Free (BOGO) Scholastic Book Fair is fast approaching. April
11th and 12th are classroom preview days. Students will preview books with their class. April 13th,
14th and 15th the fair will be open for students and parents. April 13th the fair will be open during
normal school hours. April 14th the fair will have extended hours from dismissal to 6:30 PM as well as
normal school hours. April 15th the fair closes at noon. We need parent volunteers to help with the
book fair. If you can help please call the school to speak with Mr. Muhammad or call Mrs. Yolanda
Johnson (Book Fair Coordinator) at 301-537-4755.

Estimados Padres y Tutores:
Espero que todos estén entusiasmado con este increíble clima que hemos tenido. La primavera refresca la
mente, el cuerpo y el espíritu. Las asignaciones del personal de nuestra escuela nos han llegado, habrá
pequeños cambios para el próximo año. Por favor revise la siguiente tabla. La tabla no es una lista exhaustiva de
todas las posiciones, voy a compartir esa información en nuestra reunión del PTA de abril. Ahora estamos en
nuestra época de exámenes donde los estudiantes en grados 3-5 van a tomar la evaluación PARCC en mayo. El
Café con el Director del 12 de abril será sobre los exámenes. También tendremos tiempo para foro abierto por
favor participe si se puede a las 9:30 de la mañana en el comedor de la escuela.

Noticias que Puede Utilizar:
Orientación de Kindegarten
La escuela de Brookhaven tendrá la orientación de Kindergarten el 19 y 20 de mayo. Para entrar en
Kindergarten para el año 2016-2017, su niño debe cumplir 5 años de edad en o antes del primero de
septiembre de 2016. Por favor llame a la escuela al 301-460-2140 para obtener más información. Tenga
en cuenta que no se celebrada clases para los alumnos de Kindergarten esos dos días.
Feria del Libro de Primavera
Prepárate, nuestra feria del libro de Scholastic de la primavera, comprar uno consigue uno gratis
(BOGO) se está acercando rápidamente. Abril 11 y 12 son días cuando los salones de clase pueden ver
los libros. El 13, 14 y el 15 de abril, la feria estará abierta para que los estudiantes y padres puedan
comprar. El 13 de abril la Feria estará abierta durante el horario escolar normal. El 14 de abril la feria
estará abierta durante el horario escolar normal más estará abierta hasta las 6:30 de la tarde. El 15 de
abril la feria se cierra al mediodía. Necesitamos padres voluntarios para ayudar con la Feria del libro. Si
puedes ayudar por favor llame a la escuela para hablar con el Sr. Muhammad o llame a la Sra. Yolanda
Johnson (Coordinadora de la Feria del libro) al 301-537-4755.
