Dear Parents and Guardians:
Today we sent home a document requesting information from you as we prepare to plan for next year. The
document asks whether or not you plan for your child or children to return to Brookhaven next year and asks
you to provide information on how your child learns best. Please complete the document and send it back to
school addressed to me. Thank you for supporting school events over the course of the school year. Your active
participation sends the message to your children that school is important. Please continue to send positive
messages to your children about school and their learning. We appreciate your partnership in education.

News That You Can Use:
Kindergarten Orientation
Brookhaven will be having Kindergarten Orientation on May 19 & 20. In order to enter Kindergarten
for the 2016-2017 school year, your child must be 5 years old on or before September 1, 2016. Please
call the school at 301-460-2140 for more information. Please note that there will be no classed held
for current Kindergarten students on these two days.
ELO SAIL
ELO SAIL is a summer program for students K-2 at Brookhaven. ELO SAIL is a program offered to
students in grades K-2 that will reinforce and enhance academic skills in preparation for the upcoming
school year. The dates are July 5-July 29th from 8:15 – 12:15 daily. The program is free and breakfast,
lunch and transportation are provided.
ELO STEP
ELO STEP is a summer program for selected incoming third and fourth grade students at Brookhaven
that provides accelerated and enriched instruction. Forty students in total will be invited to join the
program. The dates are July 5-July29th from 8:15-12:15 daily. The program is free and breakfast, lunch
and transportation are provided.
Brookhaven Yearbooks
Yearbooks are going fast. We have already sold half of our order. Yearbooks are $16.00. Don’t miss
out on getting a copy this year full of awesome memories.

Parents, it is vital that students are in school on-time for testing. Please do not schedule dental or doctor
appointments during the testing window if at all possible. Thank you!
S.T.E.A.M. Night
We will hold our final Family Learning Night on May 26th from 6:30-8:00 PM. Come out and engage in science,
technology, engineering, art and math activities with your family. Observe the great art work by our Brookhaven
students. We anticipate a great night of learning and fun!
Marking Period 3 Town Meeting Schedule
Parents, please join us if you can for our marking period three Town Meetings. We will celebrate student success
and discuss Grit and Confidence. The schedule is below:
-Monday, May 9th for 4th grade at 9:15; 2nd grade at 2:15
-Tuesday, May 10th for 1st grade at 9:15; 5th grade at 2:15
-Wednesday, May 11th for 3rd grade at 2:00

Hoy le estamos enviando un documento solicitando información de usted mientras nos preparamos para
planificar para el próximo año. El documento les pregunta si su hijo o hijos vuelven a Brookhaven el año que
viene y les pide que nos proporcione información sobre cómo su niño aprende mejor. Complete el documento y
regréselo a la escuela. Gracias por apoyar los eventos en el transcurso del año escolar. Su participación activa
envía el mensaje a sus hijos que la escuela es importante. Por favor continúe enviando mensajes positivos a sus
hijos sobre la escuela y su aprendizaje. Agradecemos su colaboración en la educación.

Noticias que puede utilizar:
Orientación de Kindegarten
La escuela de Brookhaven tendrá la orientación de Kindergarten el 19 y 20 de mayo. Para entrar en
Kindergarten para el año 2016-2017, su niño debe cumplir 5 años de edad en o antes del primero de
septiembre de 2016. Por favor llame a la escuela al 301-460-2140 para obtener más información. Tenga
en cuenta que no se celebrada clases para los alumnos de Kindergarten esos dos días.
ELO SAIL
ELO SAIL es un programa de verano para estudiantes entrando en Kinder a segundo grado en
Brookhaven. ELO SAIL es un programa ofrecido a los estudiantes para reforzar y mejorar las
habilidades académicas en la preparación para el próximo año escolar. Las fechas son del 5 de julio
hasta el 29 de julio de 8:15 – 12:15 todos los días. El programa es gratuito y reciben desayuno, almuerzo
y transporte.

Los Anuarios (yearbooks) se están hiendo rápido. Ya hemos vendido la mitad de nuestra orden. Los
anuarios son $16,00. No se pierda la oportunidad de obtener una copia de todos los recuerdos de este

Noche de Aprendizaje S.T.E.A.M.
Llevamos a cabo nuestra última noche de aprendizaje familia el 26 de mayo de 6:30-8:00 de la tarde.
Acompáñenos a participar en actividades de ciencia, tecnología, ingeniería, arte y matemáticas con su familia.
Observa la gran obra de arte de nuestros estudiantes de Brookhaven. Anticipamos una gran noche de aprendizaje
